261 - Hui Lau Shan许留山 Healthy Dessert@ 1 Utama Shopping Mall

How healthy can a dessert be when it's laden with sugars ?
''No sugar is added in their mango desserts'' I heard someone say.
Hui Lau Shan 许留山 flew all the way from Hong Kong and it is their first outlet in Malaysia@ 1Utama!
How can I not try it??????? I am a dessert freak. I am freaking obsess with 'healthy dessert', hence, without second thoughts,  I went there with my glutton friends to wallop their whole menu!!

It was quite disappointing upon ordering as 50% of their dessert had sold out when we arrived... We went there straight after our dinner @ Menya Musashi .
By the time we settle down at Hui Lao Shan the clock needle had already pointed 9pm...
I pouted and show my grumpy face to the waiter. I know it was not a correct behavior but I came all the way and he just smiled and say:'' Sorry, mai sai jor ''( certain dessert had sold out), and particularly , the dessert that I yearn so much for... the mochi and the sweety ball was sold out, *RAGEEEE*

Hoi Lau San (7)Hoi Lau San (9.0)
Pictures above taken from taufulou.com

Anyway, niway, I am going all out to indulge.... Let's see what we have...
Mango Icy Crystal Jelly. RM9.90
Lots of mango cube, mango puree, mango pudding and not very sweet as the sweetness comes from the Mango itself. I love this. So pure and refreshing!

Coconut Mango with Mango Ice Cream
Typically tasty as the coconut milk has its very unique and creamy taste.

Watermelon sago with Mango

Slightly bland. Perhaps we were so busy taking pictures and neglected it. It was at its not-very-cold and icy state when we eat this. The ice melted too fast before we are able to finish it. >.<
Maybe they should change their ice supplier. xP
Honeydew sago with Vanilla Ice cream
See, I told you. The ice melt faster before we could imbibe it! The ice cream taste good though. Cream of the crop ice. lolz!

Triple Mango Delight. RM9.90
Oh-SO-Fantabulous-triple-thick-mango puree~ love this the most.
Consist of Mango Ice Cream, mango cube, mango puree, mango pudding ... It was so rich and divine.
I can't help myself , I kept digging and digging the mango ice cream... So nice la!!

Mango Pudding.
Not a fan. No comments. ;P
Very flavorful though...
Bird's Nest mango Pudding. RM11.90
I was amused by the artful presentation.
It's a turtle!!! BUBUBU.. Sho cute....yeeek!(sorry for being childish, I was overwhelmed)..
Two types of ice cream is given( Coconut & Mango) and touched up a little with some bird's nest...

Coconut Mango with red bean.
While I was browsing the menu, my eye balls automatically search for the words............''Red Bean''.
I am a Red Bean fanatic. No doubt bout that. I ordered Mango with Red bean smoothie.
Mango was blended so thick & smoothly with chunky beans at the bottom, I felt like flying on cloud nine. . .

Double Mango Punch.
*Highly recomended*  This beverage is self describable .
Look at how concentrate it is, at the bottom of the plastic cup was loaded with jelly and mango cube as well. Packed with Vitamin C and beta-carotene... Girls better drink more, just ignore the calories laa..

Mango + 'Gui ling song'( Herbal Grass Jelly)
Mango Icy Crystal Jelly. RM9.90

*Highly Recommended*
I'll just leave this as your homework.Go try it yourself, and tell me how do you think of it.
Judge this by your own.
<3

A table fool of foods.

Signature Curry Combo. RM7.90

Maybe I was too stuffed...the curry taste ordinary to me...nothing much to shout about.
Somewhere inside my digestive mechanism got jammed....I was so full that day...
 I couldn't take it anymore...
Anyway, I will definitely be back to try their sweetballs and mango mochi!

260 - Menya Musashi Tokyo Ramen@ Isetan 1Utama.

Previously, Malaysian have been going gaga over the bubble milk tea drink(Ochado, Chatime, Gong Cha, Ding Cha...)  Bubble teas kiosks are sprouting like mushroom, and now ,the contagious Ramen trend is taking over ,obviously....
Been hearing people talking bout ramens everywhere... Yamagoya Ramen , Goku Raku Ramen, Ichiban Ramen, Santouka Ramen.... and now, Menya Musashi Tokyo Ramen!
My friends (glutton precisely), they decided to whack the whole menu of Musashi Ramen and we did. We also had second round of dessert at Hui Lao Shan (Famous Hong Kong Dessert) after stuffing ourselves with 9 bowls of ramen, 2 servings of Gyoza, 2 bowls of rice and more. . .

Takana Gohan. RM7
'Mui Choy' is what we called this vege in chinese. Typically salty but I think that's how it suppose to be.
Best served with a bowl of plain rice. ( eunice don't really like it actually ;P)
Chashu Gohan. RM9
Very fragrant chashu( pork) with slightly sweet gravy... (eunice said it is acceptable).

Been waiting impatiently for our ramen to arrive.... and taa-daa!!

Musashi Tsukemen. RM27
Musashi Tsukemen with Shiro (Onion flavored Oil) .
Chashu Men . RM30
Chashu Men with 'Aka '(homemade Musashi Chili Oil).
I love the aromatic chili oil bursting with a strong flavor which triggers my saliva gland...
Ajimata Chashu Tsukemen. RM33
Ramen with 'kuro'(special oil combined of fried shallot and garlic oil).
This. is. arguably.good. too.
The astringency of the garlic , the saltiness, the soup base... me gusto.

Gyoza. RM9
Would prefer it to be more crispy at the base ... Taste ordinarily good though.
Remember to dip it in the black vinegar sauce they provide!
Samurai vs Musashi.
LOLZ. Every utensil has Musashi trademark on it....Just have a peek at their bowl...

Even their clay spoon has their signature sword.
Hold. Just pause for a moment and look at the noodles.
expand your imagination , take a deep breath and feel the hot steam coming out from the bowl...
then you slurp a mouthful of ramen into your mouth, you chew it, and feel the springy texture .... ahhh!
Yes! you got it, you got it, that's what I'm trying to tell....
Springy noodles.
The noodle is super springy! I love it so much! *SLURP*
When I say it's good, I mean it. I don't like soft noodles honestly...it just taste so wrong to me..;P
I am a picky eater!
Well, the diameter of the noodles, every strand of it, the texture, the length, the way it is cooked, lovely. *SLURP* i love it. i love it.

Dry Chashumen.
It is plain. The ramen was just simply prepared by running through hot boiling water. Paired with bamboo shoots and two pieces of palm-sized-big chashu. Not joking, it's really the size of your palm and
;D it's porkilicious!

This is huge.

Complimentary soup .

Chasu Tsukemen. RM31
the decent lashing of chili oil makes everything taste better....agree?
*stare and drool*

Ajitama - 味玉. RM2

Eggy, I prefer it to be more wobbly and runny...

Manage to take a pic with Mr.Musashi...
Pfft. Look at his reluctant expression .....
...and my expression.... I feel like a dumb-ass-donkey-smiling-so cheerfully yet he give me this serious-looking expression.

He prefer taking picture with himself. I guess. XDD

This is the first bill.
We'd actually ordered another two bowls of ramen + gyoza + egg which cost us RM50.
Not cheap I would say, but once in a while, I don't mind...;)

257- Macaroons Recipe - Chef Hubert.

Not long ago,I've posted a cooking demo about Chef Hubert and his signature French Sweet Pastry -Macaroons, Dacquoise, and financier... I've promised to share the recipe earlier and sorry for procrastinating... I haven't get an opportunity to try this recipe ,yet, as I'm always busy juggling with my works ,blog, and of course, my family... I hardly had time to bake... or try out new recipe, so, maybe you should give it a try and tell me what's the outcome. Would love to hear from all my readers! ;)

and if, feedbacks are good, I'll consider to bake.my.very.first.batch of macaroon.....

 Macaroons

Oven:145 degrees for 15mins

300gm Sugar
75ml Water
110gms Egg White Old

Bring syrup mixture to a boil at 118 degrees.
Once the temperature reaches 108 degress for syrup, start whisking the aged egg whites. When soft peaks begin to form, increase the speed and slowly pour the cooked sugar mixture into the whisking egg whites. Continue to whisk and let the meringue cool to about 50 degrees, remove the mixing bowl.

110gms Egg White Fresh
300gms Icing Sugar
300gms Almond Ground

In another clean dry bowl, gradually add the meringue into the first mixture of icing sugar, almond ground and fresh egg whites. Incorporate well by folding carefully (slice the centre and work towards the middle) until the meringue batter produces a glossy finish.
Fill the batter into a pastry bag.
Pipe the batter 7cm in diameter using a size 8 piping nozzle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Tap baking tray to even out the macarons. Bake. Once the baking is completed, remove from the oven. Leave to cool. Store macaron shells in an air tight container.

256 -Dangerous Food to Eat.

you-gon-die.jpg
Photo illustrations by John Seaborn Gray
Earlier this week, Katharine Shilcutt took a look at 8 foods notable for containing trace amounts of radiation. She carefully pointed out that the radiation in those foods was so negligible, there's no real threat to you or me unless we were to ingest massive amounts of them. Well, that's not the way this article is going to work.
What we've got here are 8 foods that will almost certainly kill you and your entire familyunless you keep reading and take the proper precautions. We've learned our lesson from the evening news, and are now relying on vague threats to scare you into staying tuned. Which common household foods could be used in a recipe... for murder? Does President Obama know about these foods, and does he callously serve them to his own family? Will any of them straight-up make your goddamned head explode?
The answers, after the jump.
mushroom-death.jpg
1. Mushrooms
How much do you trust the guy who picks your mushrooms? What about the guy who puts them on your pizza? With one small mistake, they could easily switch out normal, edible mushrooms for poisonous ones with awesome names. Seriously, two of the deadliest mushrooms are the death cap and the destroying angel. We'll repeat that: destroying angel. Jesus Christ, that is so metal.
But poisonous mushrooms don't necessarily have to kill you, oh no. Some will simply cause you to hallucinate, sending your fevered brain deep into spasms of madness and terror. Up is down, night is day, and all is lost. Do certain popular Nintendo characters endorse the regular ingestion of hallucinogenic mushrooms? We can't say for certain without making ourselves vulnerable to a libel suit. But yes.
castor-hazard.jpg
2. Castor Beans
Sure, we all remember Castor beans as the beans used to make Castor oil, the obnoxious, syrupy cough medicine so often shoveled down the throats of the Little Rascals by their heartless tyrant of a mother (or whoever that lady was, we haven't watched Our Gang in years). But little did you know Castor oil is commonly used in candies and chocolate, and unless it's prepared exactly right, it will kill you deader than those very Little Rascals. That's right: the Castor bean contains the deadly poison ricin, which is so toxic even the smallest amount could kill you several times over.
So deadly is ricin, it was used by the assassins known as "umbrella men," who clandestinely stabbed their quarry with an umbrella whose tip was designed to deliver a tiny pellet the size of a BB containing no more than a few grams of the terrifying poison. Of course, the umbrella men later reformed from their hitman ways and formed a successful musical act, but that doesn't mean ricin is any less dangerous. Think of that the next time you're making S'mores at the campsite: you could be baking a scrumptious, chocolatey treat... of death.
almonds-caution.jpg
3. Almonds
"Oh God, not almonds! What about my Nut 'n' Honey? My Almond Joy? My mixed nuts assortment?" You might as well be eating a big bowl of scorpions, you poor bastard. Raw almonds, sometimes called bitter almonds, contain cyanide, probably the most famous poison in the world, and responsible for the deaths of more Agatha Christie characters than old age. Oh sure, almond sellers claim the almonds are "processed" to remove the poison, but then why are bitter almonds illegal to sell in some countries, including New Zealand? Even the powerful magic of all the elves in Rivendell can't cleanse the filthy, diseased almond of its hateful death-juice.
Oh and guess what: It's not even a fucking nut. Neither are peanuts, cashews (also poisonous), pecans, macadamia "nuts," walnuts, pistachios, or pretty much every other food you've ever been told was a nut. That's right: you've never eaten a nut. They lied to you.
chili-danger.jpg
4. Chili Peppers
Capsaicin. It's a mightily abrasive chemical they put in pepper spray and paint stripper, and if you ingest too much of it, it will kill you. But why on earth would you ingest such a volatile chemical? Oh, that's a great question, maybe because it's in chili peppers? The hotter a chili pepper is, the more capsaicin it's got in it. Remember that the next time you and your idiot friends get into a hot-chili-pepper-eating contest. What you're really doing is holding a race... to an early grave.

cherries-poison.jpg
5. Cherries
That's right: She's my cherry pie, looks so good, make a grown man die. Imagine you're God for just a second. If you're the person who handles our bank account, that should be really easy for you. You're creating a delicious fruit that people will use to make pie, cake and candy, and even enjoy eating raw. Something awesome added onto something else that's awesome will even come to be called the "cherry on top." Do you leave the fruit be? Or do you wrap it around a core of deadly poison? If you chose the first option, then you lack the sick sense of humor of our current God, because the cherry pit is basically a hydrogen cyanide bomb. Don't bite it, don't suck on it, don't even look at it. The smallest abrasion could cause it to leak into your mouth, where even a little bit of this particular poison could make you sick or kill you. That might be something to add on, the next time you're saying grace: "Dear Lord, please don't let anything you've hidden in any of this food kill me. Amen."
apples-danger.jpg
6. Apples
Apples have seeds which, like the cherry pit, contain cyanide. But you spit out the seeds, right? Hell, let's hope so, genius.
tomatoes-yuk.jpg
7. Tomatoes
Oh, boy, you're making spaghetti sauce with those tomatoes you've been growing out in the garden! Stick 'em in the blender, liquify 'em, spice 'em up, slather 'em on the noodles, and eat that entire plate clean. And then maybe go take a post-meal nap. Unfortunately, you forgot to remove the stems, so that nap is going to be permanent. Tomato leaves and stems contain glykoalkaloids, and while you'll rarely ingest enough to kill you, it can cause panic attacks and stomach problems. So, okay, maybe death by tomato is a long shot, even by this article's standards. But they could damn sure ruin a date.
potatoes-reaper.jpg
8. Potatoes
Not only do potatoes contain poison in their stems and leaves, but they also become loaded with the poison solanine when they get too green. Solanine sounds like it was made up for a video game, but we assure you, it's quite real: People still die from potato poisoning. Did you know there's such a thing as "potato leaf tea"? You idiot. Why not just steep your tea with a bag of drain cleaner? God help us all.
